Picnic Groves

Reopening April 5, 2021!

Ride the train to our convenient picnic grove – a recreational area along the train’s route for mid-way boarding or unloading. Board the train with your picnic basket or cooler, and let your trainman know you wish to get off at one of our groves!

Groff’s Grove is conveniently located in a picturesque valley in the heart of Lancaster County’s Amish Country. Enjoy a relaxing picnic at the Grove itself. Swings, a merry-go-round, and seesaws will entertain the kids while you sit back and enjoy the view. Amenities at Groff’s Grove include picnic tables, charcoal grills, hand-pumped potable water, and porta-potties.

To enjoy Groff’s Grove, during your online ticket purchase, please indicate your intention of disembarking at Groff’s Grove. While aboard the train, inform your trainman of your wish to disembark. The train will proceed to the end of the line, and then, on the return trip, it will stop at the Grove. Just pick up any later train to complete the ride and return to the Station.

NOTE: Strasburg Rail Road’s picnic groves are generally open from April through October, weather permitting.
