We want to ensure our guests make the most out of their “Day Out with Thomas.” We recommend that guests arrive at the event no less than one hour before their scheduled departure in order to allow sufficient time for parking, picking up tickets (if held at Will Call), and finding your way to the appropriate boarding areas. If you are riding an afternoon Thomas train, please leave ample time before your train ride to enjoy all of the extra activities. The Day Out With Thomas activities shut down 75 minutes after the last Thomas train departs for the day. Also, if you purchase a combination ticket (including Percy and/or the 45-minute excursion train), please allow ample time in your day to enjoy the train ride(s) and all of the extra activities.
Thomas the Tank Engine has traveled all the way from the Island of Sodor and has arrived right on time to take a ride with you and your family!
Percy will be at Strasburg Rail Road’s Day Out With Thomas events. View the Percy Fact Sheet for details on how Percy will contribute to all the fun of Day Out With Thomas!
Yes, Sir Topham Hatt™ will take time away from his busy schedule as Chairman of the Railway on the Island of Sodor to meet and take pictures with guests.

Train Ride Details
Tickets are assigned by time and date. Guests must be together during boarding if they wish to sit together on the train.
No. We provide designated “stroller parking” throughout the East Strasburg Station, so you can park your stroller before boarding the train.
The Thomas train ride is approximately 20 minutes in length. (Additionally, Percy is approximately a 12-minute ride, and Strasburg Rail Road’s steam excursion train is 45 minutes round trip.)
Due to the limited space available, each ticket entitles the holder to one Thomas train ride. (Patrons with combination tickets including Percy and/or Strasburg Rail Road’s regular excursion train are also entitled to those respective rides included in their tickets.)
The regular train ride is 45-minutes round trip and one of Strasburg Rail Road’s authentic steam engines will pull you down the tracks to Paradise, PA and back. The Thomas train ride is an abbreviated train ride on the same tracks and is 20-minutes round trip. The full sized, steam powered Thomas the Tank Engine pulls passengers down the track through beautiful farmland and back to East Strasburg Station.
Your Day Out With Thomas ticket will include a specific time for your Thomas train ride. If your ticket also includes a ride behind Percy, you may choose to ride the Percy train on a first-come first-served basis. Percy’s first departure is generally half-an-hour after Thomas’s first departure of the day, and Percy continues providing rides through Thomas’s last scheduled departure. Plan your day accordingly. Strasburg Rail Road reserves the right to adjust the train schedule as demand requires.
Due to the popularity of Day Out With Thomas, advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. It is not uncommon for events to sell out. When purchasing tickets you will be asked to select a specific date and time for your ride with Thomas. Your ticket is valid only for that date and time.
There are no discount tickets available for Day Out With Thomas.
Ticketweb has a field for an “Access Code” when you purchase tickets online. We do not have an “Access Code” for Day Out With Thomas. You can still purchase tickets online without an “Access Code”.
If purchased eleven (11) days or more in advance of the event, guests will receive their tickets in the mail. Guests that purchase tickets closer to the event date can pick up their tickets at Will Call the day of the event.
There will be no refunds or exchanges.
