Red Ball Express
- May 26, 2018
- All Ages: $200.00
On April 11, 2018, our friends and neighbors at Verdant View Farm suffered the destruction of their 95-year-old dairy barn in a catastrophic fire. Situated on either side of Strasburg Rail Road’s Right of Way, Verdant View is a 4th-generation, family owned and operated farm and bed & breakfast committed to sustainable agriculture and impactful relationships.
As a way to support the Ranck family and Verdant View Farm, Strasburg Rail Road and Lerro Productions will operate a Mixed Freight photo charter on Saturday, May 26, 2018. All proceeds will go directly to help the Verdant View Farm.
In conjunction with the Memorial Day holiday, this special photo charter will take on a US Transportation Corps theme highlighting Military Railroad Service battalions, with uniformed re-enactors, encampments, and more. Under the professional direction of Lerro Productions, participants will enjoy a steam-powered mixed train photo charter beginning late afternoon and extending into the evening of May 26th. Strasburg Rail Road will run a steam locomotive, re-lettered “US Transportation Corps,” along with a small freight consist including a tank car, a flatcar loaded with military equipment, and more. Several photo run-by opportunities will be provided, followed by unique yard shots. At least five different scenes are planned.
Tickets are required to participate, and they may be purchased through Strasburg Rail Road’s ticketing platform for $200.00 each. All proceeds support Verdant View Farm.
Strasburg Rail Road and Lerro Productions are donating the labor and equipment for this unique photo charter opportunity so that all proceeds may be used to support Verdant View Farm.
Do you re-enact? If you are a World War I or World War II re-enactor and interested in volunteering to participate in Strasburg Rail Road’s “Red Ball Express” event, please complete the Registration Form and email a digital copy back to SRRtrain@StrasburgRailRoad.com.
