WHAT’S NEW WITH THE EASTER TRAIN EVENT

Whether you’re looking to start a new tradition for your family’s Easter weekend, or you’ve been coming here for years, Strasburg Rail Road™ offers a fun and unique way to experience the holiday as a family.
Easter comes once a year, and with it comes our favorite Easter Bunny, hopping from car to car to spread smiles on passengers’ faces. The 45-minute train ride affords all passengers a chance to witness spring’s first touches across the beautiful Amish farmland. However, while our younger passengers enjoy the ride, they truly light up as the Easter Bunny appears, handing them a surprise treat. (This is also an ideal moment for you to snap a photo as a memento for later!)
New this year is our Easter Egg Hunt! We encourage passengers ages 11 and younger to bring their own basket for their opportunity to hunt for eggs in our fields. Grab your cameras and cheer your kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews as they hunt for colorful eggs stuffed with small surprises.
If you follow us on Facebook, you know we posted an event for the Easter Bunny Train. Some followers have asked a few questions, and we’d like to make sure we answer them here, as well as answering some common questions. Read on to learn some of the details for this fun, upcoming event:
Q: Do you have to buy tickets ahead of time or can you buy them at the station?
Because of the popularity of this event, we recommend you buy tickets ahead of time. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the station.
Q: How much are the tickets?
Ticket prices range from $4 for infants to $18 for adults in the Coach Car, $27 for anyone riding the First Class Lounge Car, and $32 for the President’s Car. We also offer Easter Dinner aboard the Dining Car on April 16th. Click on our Easter Bunny Train event page to see more pricing information.
Included in this price is a ride on our steam-powered train, the Easter Egg Hunt, and our Fun Extras, which include the Pint-Sized Pufferbelly, the hand-powered Cranky Cars, and the LO&S Motorcar. (Fun Extras available weather permitting.)
Q: Are there differences between the cars?
Yes! Though every car will be visited by the Easter Bunny during your trip, the cars offer different experiences. The Coach Car has standard upholstered bench seating, while the Lounge Car features plush captain’s chairs which swivel for a full view of the surrounding landscape. The Dining Car serves a meal at tables, and on April 16th we are offering Easter Dinner. Learn more about the cars and see a virtual tour on the Cars page.
Q. Will we be able to take pictures with the Easter Bunny?
The Easter Bunny will visit each car, and you may request a photo. We have photographers on board to snap a photo if you’d like. They’ll also take one with your personal camera if you prefer.
Q: Is the egg hunt chaotic or are the kids urged to be mindful of others?
This is the first year we’ve added the Easter Egg Hunt. This event will be organized by age group: one group will be for children ages 5 and younger, and another hunt area will be designated for children ages 6 through 11. We will be providing instructions before the hunt begins so everyone has an opportunity to hear the rules before they begin.
Q: What time is the hunt?
Easter Egg Hunts will be offered several times the weekend of April 14-16. Friday and Saturday hunts start at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Sunday hunts are 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
Be prepared to spend several hours at this fun, Easter holiday event. You should also be sure to experience the Fun Extras, our dining areas, and our shops. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the Strasburg Rail Road.
