The latest version of the Strasburg Rail Road mascot are Stras and Stacy Bear, two characters designed and created by Greg Autore, a toy designer who has spent over 35 years in the toy industry helping to influence the designs of GI Joe, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Marvel, and Disney Princesses. His list of clients includes Mattel, Kenner, Hasbro, Disney, Fisher-Price, and more. Visit our general store to purchase a stuffed animal version of Stras and Stacy Bear.
The mascots can often be seen walking around the mall area greeting guests in between train rides. Stras and Stacy Bear like to visit other places around the region. They are the railroad’s tangible ambassadors to local charities, schools, retirement communities, parades, and many more! STRAS BEAR
Stras Bear was born on November 19, 2020.
Stras Bear lived in a cave under the railroad tracks. But the trains kept waking him up. Rather than moving out, he moved in and began working at the railroad. Stras has many jobs. You might see Stras Bear working as a conductor on the train one day, as an engineer oiling wheels the next, or even a fireman shoveling coal another day. Stras Bear is a wizard with a wrench. Stras Bear enjoys caving and long naps – often at the same time. He is also a good fisherman. But the thing he likes best is giving and getting big bear hugs. He takes his coffee with a little honey. Stras Bear thinks Stacy Bear is a honey of a bear, but he is too shy to tell her.
STACY BEAR
Stacy Bear was born on April 9, 2022.
Stacy Bear appeared one day when Stras Bear was away working on trains for the Army. The railroad needed help so Stacy Bear and many other women volunteered to lend a paw. Stacy Bear snuck off a circus train when she saw the green hills of Strasburg, PA. The circus must have come from the South as sweet Stacy Bear is always making sure that everyone is happy and comfortable with her Southern charm — when she’s not working with a wrench.
Stacy Bear enjoys long walks in the woods and eating wild berries — often at the same time. Stacy Bear takes a little bit of coffee in her honey. Stacy Bear is sweet on Stras Bear and loves to surprise him with a kiss on the cheek.
