“Motif for Murder” – You are all cordially invited to the retirement party of possibly the most famous Jazz Pianist of the 1930s. Miles Bishop has decided that it’s finally time to turn in the ivories and settle into the simple life. But before he does, he is going out in style with a ride on the historic Strasburg Rail Road that will be full of music, laughter, and friends.

Enjoy a memorable 30-minute steam train ride behind the famous Thomas the Tank Engine during Thomas’s Anniversary year! Your ticket includes all Day Out With Thomas event activities.

From the moment you enter, you are immediately thrust into a turn-of-the-century reality that you cannot escape. Or can you? Unleash your inner detective as you enter the mystery and try to escape an old stationary PRR Caboose and/or Coach Car in our Town Square.

Local folklore, fables, and phenomena come alive for a unique steam train experience during Strasburg Rail Road’s Haunted Rails & Tails, based on the published works of Matt Lake. Lake will serve as the ghostly host as he guides guests through the weird, eerie, and spooky tales of Lancaster County and its environs.

Join us as we sample unique whiskeys in a luxurious train car aboard a historic steam train while traveling through beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania!

A nostalgic Christmas tradition for nearly 65 years continues at the historic Strasburg Rail Road! Choose from Santa’s Paradise Express, Night Before Christmas Train, the “Santa Claus Limited”, or the Christmas Feast with Mrs. Claus.

Ride in luxury when you come aboard one of our premium First Class cars pulled by one of our regular excursion trains. Choose from the Parlor Car or either of the two Lounge Cars.

In the railroad industry, the word “hostling” means the process of preparing a steam locomotive for operation. On this tour, guests receive a unique, up-close, and behind-the-scenes view of how a steam locomotive is prepared for the day’s operation. This tour is limited to just 10 people.

A Strasburg Rail Road tradition continues!

April 18 – 20, 2025 – Enjoy a special Easter train ride on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Easter weekend! The Easter Bunny will be the honorary conductor on the historic steam train rides. In addition to the train ride and mall activities, scheduled “candy drops” for the kids will occur throughout each day. Tickets are selling fast!
