A CHILLY TRAIN RIDE: LONG JOHN LIMITED

Open Air Car in Snow

It’s our annual tradition and it’s EXHILARATING! Every February we kick off the season with our thrilling Long John Limited event, where passengers climb aboard our Open Air Car. You heard right, we said Open Air, meaning no windows, doors, heat, or cushioned seats. This is one wild ride!

You’ll want to don your long johns and winter attire as the average temperature in February dips below freezing at 31 degrees, not to mention wind chill. This 45-minute train ride gives passengers a chance to explore their adventurous side through miles of Lancaster County’s countryside.

A heaping dose of Winter is not all you’ll receive on this visit to the railroad, we’ll have complimentary Long John donuts and coffee to warm your bellies as well. Not to be confused with the long underwear you’ll be wearing, these Long John donuts are a Lancaster County staple. Provided by Achenbach’s Pastries Inc. these éclair-like donuts are rectangular shaped and topped with delicious icing. Pick up your complimentary treats before boarding the Open Air Car.

Our Long John Limited event departs snow, sleet, or shine at 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm on Saturday, February 17th. Additional seats in heated cars are available for those still working on their courage. Reserve your tickets today, seats are limited.
